Board Building - Photo Gallery
Exploring different activities and learning about them is always intriguing to me. Before shooting this day I had never been around anybody boards in this way. I’ve had a few friends build snowboards, but the process is different. Other then having a general idea of what the space looked like I really didn’t know what to expect.
When I showed up at the shop my friend Gunner (Jonathan Marquis) who I was shooting had yet to get there. I walked in the the owner Steve was there. I introduced myself and he was more then happy to show me around the space and tell me about the process starting with cutting the rough shape out of foam on the CNC, to sanding and shaping the board, to coating in fibreglass and adding carbon fibre where needed.
Once Gunner showed up he walked me through what he was going to be working on that evening. He was working on a hydrofoil and was adding a carbon fibre pad and fibreglass.
Excited to get back into the shop as he works on different steps of the building process.
